Are you disturbed by the lingering aroma of kitchen after cooking? These unpleasant odors may bring down the appetite of your family. A lot of things in the kitchen such as unclean garbage can, food splatter on stove, leftovers of food, etc contribute to the disgusting odor of your kitchen. Here are some easy tips that help you in eradicating the kitchen odors.
Clean the food spatters and grease
With the help of a degreasing dish detergent, take out the residues collected on the cabinets, stove and the area in front of the stove. Also, make sure to clean the vents over the stove as this is the place where grease splatters and bits of food are stuck, thereby causing unpleasant odors.
Ensure proper ventilation
Using an exhaust fan helps in blowing out the odor-filled air. Keep all the windows of your house open. This allows fresh air to circulate throughout the house.
Use a home-made air freshener
Make a potpourri by adding citrus slices or peels, a piece of cinnamon, 2 to 4 cloves and little rosemary to a small bowl of water. Simmer for an hour or longer. You can replenish water if required. You can also use your favorite herbs in the preparation. The vapors coming out of the potpourri tend to neutralize the smell that has settled in the kitchen.
Clean the trash cans
Use hot soapy solution to clean the trash cans of the kitchen and outdoor. Wipe the cans with a paper so that it further absorbs the aroma of debris. Throw in some pieces of lime rinds accompanied by cold water into the running garbage disposal. This freshens-up the disposal system.
Remove deep fry odor
You can do this in 2 ways:
1) Before deep frying anything, first fry the apple slices in the oil and then continue frying other things in the same oil. This reduces the odor caused by frying other foods.
2) You can also have a bowl of vinegar placed next to the stove. This helps in absorbing the vapors of foods that are released while deep frying.
With a good housekeeping, you can convert your kitchen to an enjoyable place.
